ian hated when his clients wanted to meet at the park, lilianna brought their daughter to that park. he sighed, sitting on the bench waiting for the guy to show up, hands in his pocket clutching on the green bud the guy was buying. sure, it was only making his twenty dollars but it added up with more sales. ian looked around the park, over his shoulder, not only looking out for the guy but looking out for lilianna. they've been together, minus small break ups, for four years and she had no idea of his side jobs. ian sold prescription drugs and marijuana to the locals aside from cleaning up tables at the local cafe. it helped put money in his pocket, meaning more things he could pick up for his daughter.. and child on the way. you'd think getting your girlfriend pregnant at fifteen would knock some sense into you but it happened again... and they were surprisingly excited.
when the guy began walking up, ian got up from the bench and greeted him as if he were a close friend. he snuck the small bag in the other man's hand during a handshake, while the man snuck the money in ian's hand. the minute their hands parted ian shoved his back in his jeans as the two bullshitted small talk when ian pulled his phone from his pocket, faking as if he had a missed call from lilianna. this was a normal routine for ian and his clients, making it seem like old friends catching up until something comes up causing him to leave. no one ever caught onto him. he put the phone to his ear, and made his way back onto the bench as the, now happy, man walked away from the scene. the boy talked for a few seconds, to no one, before hanging up and taking a deep breath in. he held it for a second before letting it out, he hated hiding things from lilianna but providing for his family was more important.

Aaliyah was crying, the baby inside of her was kicking and Lilianna just couldn't handle it. They needed to get out of the house. Or the crappy little apartment that served as their home until they found, or could afford, something better. She flopped on the couch in front of her two year old daughter and smiled at her. "Liyah, do you wanna go to the park?" At the word "park" the toddler's crying ceased and she came jumping on the co0uch and hugging her mommy. "Come on, let's go get your shoes and coat on." Lili wobbled over to where her daughter tossed her shoes and things after they came home from the cheap grocery store around the corner. She was helping her daughter into her shoes when there was a knock at the door. "Can you put your coat on like a big girl while Mommy gets the door?" She smiled at the precious little girl and walked over to the door. When she opened it, there was no one there. The mail was on the ground because they had no mailbox. Usually Bert just slid it under the door. She crouched down, picked the mail up, and stood back up. Which took a good ten minutes given she was getting bigger as time went on. Bills bills bills. That's the only mail they ever got, so Lili just threw it on the coffee table, grabbed her coat, and whisked her little girl out the door.
She kept Liyah close to her side because they were walking through, not the best neighborhood. They were going to the park closer to St. Valentine's. That was a much better area and sometimes Lili missed living there. When they arrived at the park she saw her Ian talking to some man that she had never seen before. They acted as friends until Ian answered his phone and turned away. Weird, didn't expect to find him here. "Daddy!" Liyah screamed and ran up and hugged him. Lili smiled and followed her daughter up to the bench where Ian was looking a little surprised and confused. Or so she thought. "Hey babe/" She leaned down and pecked him on the lips. "It was getting a little stuffy at the house so we decided to come here. What are you doing here?" She made it sound like an innocent question, but there was more than one question implied. Like, why aren't you where you said you'd be? Why are you here? Who was that man? How do you know him? Why did he look like he won the lottery as he walked away? Why were you looking around as if to see if the coast was clear? Hopefully he'd answer all her questions. Hopefully there's nothing to worry about. God only knows they do not need anymore worry.
